Lexi sat back down, her mom still cursing at the police. ![]() All that could be seen through the windows, at least without pressing your face flat against them, was a stamp-sized piece of the white wall. However, she soon learned that it was hopeless. The first time Lexi had come this way, she had tried to subtly look through the windows, searching for any sign of Fezco. There was a ping! from the machine when it accepted the Apple Pay, and she popped open the bag as she began the stroll back. They were these stupid health chips, but they tasted good enough. ![]() That was the way to the vending machine, she had quickly learned, and she pulled out her phone to pay with as she punched in 34, the number for a tiny bag of chips. Lexi finally woke up when she heard her mother's voice yelling again. Suze had tried to wake her up but decided it might be better to let her sleep. She fell asleep before her mother returned, a plastic bag with a pair of sweatpants and Lexi's teal water bottle laced through the crook of her elbow. Suze came over at one point and told her she needed to go home to ensure Cassie hadn't "run away, killed herself, or found someone else's boyfriend to fuck." She said she'd be back in half an hour, but Lexi had stopped experiencing time, so that didn't mean anything. Eventually, she just gave up and left the interrogation to her mother. She asked everyone she saw if they would tell her anything, but no one had any information, at least not any they could share with her. She went back to sleep, then woke up and still had the time to repeat it all. She stared in the mirror and began to cry again, then she pulled herself together and finally washed off all that makeup. She changed out of her dress in the bathroom and put on the pajamas her mother had brought her. She checked her phone for a text from Fez, then she cried when she remembered why there weren't any.
